PLACENTIA, Calif. (KABC) -- An infant was killed and four others were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Placentia Monday morning.

The vehicle carrying the family of five struck a curb, hit a power pole and rolled over near Orangethorpe and Placentia avenues at about 10:10 a.m. Police and firefighters managed to get everyone out of the crushed 1997 Chevrolet Suburban except the 7-month-old infant.

The boy was "crushed inside his car seat" and pronounced dead at the scene, Placentia police Lt. Eric Point said.

His parents, 5-year-old sister and 3-year-old brother were transported to UC Irvine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Orangethorpe Avenue was closed between Placentia Avenue and the 57 Freeway in both directions for the investigation. Southern California Edison crews are working to restore power to an unknown number of homes and businesses.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Anyone with further information concerning this collision was encouraged to call Placentia Police Traffic Investigators at (714) 993-8157.
