Carjacking victim shot in Willowbrook; suspect at large

WILLOWBROOK, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was shot after being carjacked in the Willowbrook area, sheriff's officials said.

The gunfire erupted shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 11800 block of Compton Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Century Station.

Deputies said a suspect carjacked the victim and then shot him. It wasn't clear if the victim was shot inside or outside of his vehicle.

The victim, described as an adult male, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. He was reported to be in stable condition.

A description of the suspect was not immediately available.
