32-acre brush fire shuts down northbound lanes on 5 Freeway near Castaic

CASTAIC, Calif. (KABC) -- A 32-acre brush fire temporarily shut down all northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway in Castaic Saturday afternoon.

The lanes were closed and two lanes in the southbound side of the freeway were also shut down for about an hour.

About 115 Los Angeles County firefighters battled the fast-moving blaze, which broke out around 2:40 p.m. Helicopters were at the scene to help.

The fire was fully contained by 6 p.m. Crews remained at the site to mop up hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
