18-year-old man shot to death outside apartment complex in Whittier area

WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway after an 18-year-old man was found shot to death in front of an apartment complex in an unincorporated area of Whittier.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to the 6100 block of Norwalk Boulevard at 11:21 p.m. Tuesday and found the victim lying on the lawn with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was declared dead at the scene.

Witnesses said the victim was hanging out with friends in front of the building when a suspect walked up to the group and started shooting.

The gunman fled on foot southbound on Norwalk Boulevard.
