LAPD officers shoot knife-wielding man in South Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A knife-wielding man, who suffers from mental illness, was shot by police in South Los Angeles Friday night.

The shooting occurred in the 1400 block of W. 29th Street at about 11:45 p.m.

The man was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. His name was not immediately released.

The investigation is being led by the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Division.

CORRECTION: In an earlier version, Eyewitness News incorrectly reported the shooting took place in Exposition Park, but the shooting occurred in South Los Angeles.
