Amber Alert: 5-year-old found safe, suspect outstanding
An Amber Alert was canceled Monday morning after it was issued overnight in Riverside County for a 5-year-old girl abducted in Central California.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- An overnight Amber Alert was canceled in Riverside County early Monday morning after a 5-year-old girl was dropped off in Temecula by her alleged abductor, authorities say.

California Highway Patrol officials said the alert, issued in Riverside, San Diego and Imperial counties, was no longer active at about 5:45 a.m. after Aaliyah Gomez was dropped off by the suspect at a family member's home.

The suspect, 32-year-old Julio Gomez, remained outstanding, officials said. He was considered armed and dangerous.

The young girl was allegedly abducted at about 7 p.m. Sunday in the city of Lemoore, about 90 minutes north of Bakersfield.

Authorities said the suspect stated he would not give the girl back unless he was killed.

She was last seen wearing a gray shirt, black leggings and no shoes. The two were believed to have been traveling toward the Mexican border in a 2006 brown Chevrolet Colorado with the license plate 8C25215.

Although the young girl and the suspect share the same last name, police have not said how they are related.
