WHITTIER, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman stole a truck from outside an Auto Zone in Apple Valley with three kids inside, dropped the kids off at a nearby restaurant near Highway 18 and then led sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase to Whittier Friday night.
The driver drove erratically at approximately 100 mph on the southbound 15, westbound 10 and southbound 605 freeways through multiple cities, including Montclair, West Covina and Baldwin Park, before exiting Pioneer Boulevard in Whittier.
The suspect stopped near Whittier High School as sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers swarmed around the vehicle. Deputies yanked the woman out of the truck, but the vehicle was not in park and kept on rolling forward. A deputy then jumped into the truck and put the brakes on.
The suspect was subsequently taken into custody. She will face kidnapping, auto theft and evading charges.
San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies said the kids are safe and uninjured.
