ARCADIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A driver was killed after crashing a rental car into a flower store in Arcadia early Thursday morning, police said.

The driver was only occupant in the vehicle when it crashed into the business on 30 Las Tunas Drive at approximately 3:15 a.m., according to Arcadia police.

The driver was going at a high rate of speed westbound on Live Oak Avenue near Las Tunas Drive when he lost control and went through a median, police said. The car -- a Hyundai Elantra -- then apparently went flying into the flower shop.

Video from the scene showed the car's front end lodged into the building and positioned sideways, with the back end sticking out of the building.

Authorities pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Firefighters and police were at the scene as a large debris field was left due to the crash.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released.

Tow trucks were set to arrive to pull the vehicle out of the store.

Police advised motorists to avoid Las Tunas Drive between Santa Anita Avenue and El Monte Avenue.
