Man wanted for killing 2 nephews in Arcadia agrees to extradition

ARCADIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect accused of killing his two nephews, ages 15 and 16, in their Arcadia home last week has agreed to be extradited from Hong Kong to the United States to face charges.

Deyun Shi, 44, told a magistrate several times that he was willing to be sent back to the United States "as soon as possible."

"The details of the allegations against me are not true," Shi said. "But I'm not inclined to go into the details and give a rebuttal here. I believe I will restore the truth in the U.S. with supporting facts."

Police believe Shi killed William and Anthony Lin with some type of metal rod before boarding a plane to China Friday morning. The teens suffered blunt force trauma. Their bodies were discovered in separate levels of a home in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies said the parents of the teens went to check on their aunt in the La Canada Flintridge area Thursday night after authorities said Shi attacked her with a wood-splitting tool.

After checking on her, the parents went to bed and they woke up the next morning to find their sons' bodies. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine their cause of death.

Shi's wife is the sister of the dead teens' father. She had filed a restraining order against Shi and had started divorce proceedings, sheriff's deputies said.

The two victims attended Arcadia High School. Grief counselors were on hand Monday to help fellow students cope with their deaths.

Candyce Hsu returned to school Monday for the first time since learning that her close friend and fellow classmate Anthony was killed.

"I'm really sad because he was one of my bestest friends. In 5th grade, he helped me through some really, really rough times," Hsu said.

A vigil is scheduled to be held for the slain brothers at the high school Monday night.
