2 in hospital after dangerous street race

SOUTH PASADENA (KABC) South Pasadena police have been investigating this most of the night. Two street racers were headed northbound on Fremont Ave., and according to witnesses, they blew through a red light.

At the same time, a woman in a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was approaching along Monterey. The pickup truck was struck and ended up on its side on a nearby front lawn.

The woman, approximately 45-years in age, was transported to San Gabriel Medical Center with serious injuries to her pelvic area.

One of the vehicles alleged to be involved in street racing, a black Toyota Corolla, was being driven by a 50-year-old man. He complained of chest pains and was transported to the hospital.

The other vehicle involved apparently sped away. Police are seeking a four-door BMW. It could have been gray -- officials say it was a light color.

Anyone with any information about this incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night, is urged to call the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 403-7270.
