January 14, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
It seems vitamin C can do much more than help build your immunity. Now studies have shown it can also lower your chances of getting a stroke.Scientists studied more than 20,000 people between the ages of 40 and 79 from the United Kingdom. They found those with the highest concentrations of vitamin C in their blood had a 42 percent lower risk of stroke than people with the lowest levels.

Researchers say it's an association and point out those with a lower risk may simply live a healthier lifestyle.
