Freeway shooting injures motorist

A motorist was wounded in a shooting on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar Tuesday, a California Highway Patrol officer said. The shooting happened at approximately 3:30 p.m. south of the Foothill (210) Freeway junction on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway, according to CHP Officer Jose Nunez.

The victim was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Santa Clarita.

Police say a green Chevrolet TrailBlazer is a suspect vehicle.

The victim was believed to be driving a gray Toyota Camry.

No other information was immediately made available.
