Last-second rescue of cat as boat sinks

CORONA DEL MAR (KABC) A call went out just after 9 a.m. Friday morning that a 42-foot boat was taking on water. Sheriff's deputies onboard another boat rushed to the sinking vessel and determined that it could not be saved.

But that's when they heard the cries of the lone occupant on the sinking boat -- a cat.

A deputy was able to pull the feline to safety by its tail 15 to 20 seconds before the boat went under.

The rescued cat has been reunited with its owner.
