Southern California Edison crews were setting up a storm center in Lancaster due to an unanticipated rash of power outages. The recent wave of rainy weather, as well as a traffic accident are the culprits behind the loss of electricity. Officials predict that more outages are forthcoming.

Small sections of Malibu and Westwood were also affected.

Traffic signals on Sunset Blvd. near Beverly Glen Blvd. were temporarily down.

According to the Department of Water and Power, 81 customers in Westwood were without electricity.

In Malibu, roughly 269 Edison customers lost services after a vehicle struck a power pole on Las Flores Canyon Road just before 12 a.m.

Sections of Pacific Coast Highway at Las Flores Canyon Road and Rambla Pacifico were without electricity.

Officials report, however, that power has been restored to several of the afflicted areas.
