Lanes opened early Friday morning after the coroner removed the body of the still-unidentified driver.
Investigators at the scene say the Mercedes-Benz was traveling at a very high rate of speed when the driver apparently lost control and hit the pole. The skid marks extended some 100-to-200 feet past the pole.
The LAPD says it's too early to tell whether drugs or alcohol were a factor.
