Water released into Owens River

OWENS VALLEY L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will join other local officials Wednesday morning as they release water into a 62 mile stretch of the lower Owens River. It's part of a multi-million dollar effort to reverse 20 years worth of damage from excessive groundwater pumping into the L.A. aqueduct.

Some parts of the river ecosystem are already coming back to life just 14 months after water was re-introduced for the first time in almost 100 years.
