Japanese man arrested for 1981 murder

A cold case shooting has been re-opened
LOS ANGELES LAPD has arrested a Japanese businessman on suspicion of murdering his wife during the 1980s.

According to officials, Kazuyoshi Miura, 60, was taken into custody in Saipan Friday.

Miura initially implicated street robbers in the crime. In his original statement, Miura and his wife, Kazumi Miura, who was 28 at the time, were visiting Los Angeles in November of 1981.

Miura reported that unnamed assailants allegedly happened upon them, shooting Miura in his right leg; his wife, in the head. She would succumb to her injuries a year later in a Japanese hospital.

Miura will be extradited to the U.S.
