More rain expected as SF celebrates New Year

The Year of the Rat parade is Saturday
SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco's annual Chinese New Year Parade is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday just as a powerful winter storm is expected to bear down on Northern California.

The storm is expected to reduce turnout for the downtown parade, but those who brave the wet weather should be able to get better views of the colorful floats, dragon dancers and giant rats.

Float designers are reinforcing and weatherproofing their floats in anticipation of strong winds and heavy showers.

The stormy weather is expected to last through Sunday.
