February 29, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
A group rallied Friday morning in Santa Monica in hopes of saving 54 ficus trees slotted to be removed.A judge gave the city the green light Thursday to move those trees on 2nd and 4th streets. The judge dismissed a lawsuit from local activists, saying it was filed too late.

The group says it may resort to further legal action and more nonviolent protests.
