No solution yet for waking up in surgery

In an effort to reduce those awakenings, researchers at Washington University in St. Louis monitored the brain activity levels of 2,000 patients undergoing surgery. They found using modified EEG technology to track patients' consciousness did not decrease awakenings.

Scientists hope they may be able to reduce awakenings in the future by developing a better understanding of how anesthesia drugs work in the body.
