Hollywood seeks mayor to succeed Grant

HOLLYWOOD Honorary Mayor Johnny Grant held the post for nearly 30 years, emceeing the ceremonies and promoting Hollywood. He passed away in January at the age of 84.

Game show host Monte Hall and radio personality Gary Owens are just some of those mentioned as potential candidates. According to the L.A. Times, billboard queen "Angelyne" is also campaigning for the non-paying job.

Officials say they'll take their time in selecting Grant's replacement.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce issued the following statement Monday:

"The Hollywood Chamber Board of Directors has set no schedule to make a decision on the person or persons who will fill these roles. The Chamber Board has many things to consider with respect to these matters and is expected to deliberate extensively before making a decision. At such time as a decision is made, the Chamber will issue a statement, stated Leron Gubler, President/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
