March 20, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Doctors continue to debate the merits of massage during pregnancy, but the American Pregnancy Association claims it can be beneficial. It's important to always check with your doctor before getting a massage during pregnancy.

The association says massage has been shown to improve regulation of hormones related to stress and anxiety, reduce swelling of the joints, ease muscle aches and pains, and help you get a better night of sleep.

The association does warn, you should always work with a certified prenatal massage therapist who's aware of the needs of pregnant women.
