McClintock scrutinized for tax-free stipends

THOUSAND OAKS The payments of 170 dollars-a-day are intended for legislators who live far from Sacramento.

But McClintock and his family live about 14 miles from the state capitol, year-round.

The Republican lawmaker has received $306,000 during his eight years in the state senate.

McClintock says he is entitled to the money because Thousand Oaks is his legal city of residence.
