16-year-old hurt in Artesia hit-and-run

Sheriff's deputies are searching for a hit-and-run driver who sent a 16-year-old boy to the hospital.The accident happened just before midnight on the 18000 block of Elaine Avenue in Artesia.

Authorities say the teen was riding his bike when a red older model Honda Civic or Accord side-swiped him. He is expected to survive.

Witnesses say the driver never stopped to see if the boy was okay.

"I was home and heard some noise like a shot or something when he hit the bike," said Manuel Ourque, a witness. "Then they call for help and then I came out and then I went back and called police."
