Busy Indio bridge closed until May '09

Miles avenue, between Madison Street and the Whitewater River Channel, is closed beginning Monday and will not reopen until May 2009.

A new $9.5 million bridge is being built over the channel. The bridge is supposed to end periodic closures due to flash flooding, rain storms and wind.
