Police seek Santa Ana murder suspect

April 7, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
The search continues Monday morning for a suspected gang member who opened fire and killed a Santa Ana father of four.Authorities said a man walking on 1000 block of West Pine Street exchanged gunfire with people in a car Sunday around noon.

A stray bullet struck 39-year-old Mario Jiminez in the head and killed him. His sister was standing right next to him when he was shot.

"We're still trying to digest what happened. We saw it, but we still don't believe it. We're still hoping that they'll say it was a mistake and that he's still alive," said Candy Jiminez, the victim's sister.

A candlelight vigil was held Sunday night for the victim.

Anyone with information is urged to call the gang homicide reward tip line at (714) 245-8648.

There is a possible reward of up to $50,000.
