L.A.'s own 'Sweet 16' matchups

LOS ANGELES (CNS) "What we've done here today is taken a moment to pause, reflect and think about what makes this city great," said the magazine's editor Mary Melton.

"What we tried to do with this is create a dialogue in the city, to talk about what it is that makes the city great."

In the magazine's May edition, the challenges are:

-- Amoeba Music vs. Disney Hall;
-- Grauman's Chinese vs. Langer's deli;
-- Capitol Records vs. MOCA;
-- Huntington Gardens vs. Spaceland;
-- Pink's hot dogs vs. the beach;
-- McCabe's Guitar Shop vs. Chateau Marmont;
-- La Brea Bakery vs. Hollywood Forever screenings; and
-- the weather vs. Pacific Coast Highway.

Voting results will be published in the June edition of Los Angeles Magazine. Following a fourth round of voting, the winning "thing" will be announced in the August issue.
