Alzheimer's-diabetes link in men

Middle-aged men who develop diabetes may be at higher risk of developing Alzheimer's, according to a Swedish study published in the online issue of Neurology.The study tested nearly 2,300 men for diabetes at age 50, and during a follow-up period of about 32 years, 102 participants were diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

The study concluded that the men with diabetes at age 50 were nearly one-and-a-half times more likely to develop Alzheimer's than those without insulin problems.
