Caffeine may help fight Alzheimer's

Researchers gave the daily caffeine equivalent of one cup of coffee to rabbits and fed them a cholesterol-rich diet for 12 weeks. They found that the rabbits suffered relatively little damage in what's called their blood-brain barrier (BBB).

Scientists say caffeine may protect by helping the BBB stop unwanted molecules from entering the central nervous system.

The findings are in the journal of Neuro-Inflammation.
