It took firefighters two hours to douse the flames.
Fortunately, no one was hurt, but the building has been deemed a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Massive building fire in south El Monte
SOUTH EL MONTE The fire broke out around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday on the 2400 block of Chico Street. Investigators say the blaze started in the rear of the building and then quickly spread.
