Officials bracing for bad fire season

April 17, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Fire officials say the upcoming fire season could be the worst ever.Last year was the driest year on record in Los Angeles. Massive wildfires throughout the region scorched more than 500,000 acres.

Experts say thanks to this year's wet weather, the vegetation has grown, fueling the potential for even more devastating fires this summer.

The National Weather Service predicts there's a 40 percent chance of above normal temperatures from May through September.
