"Help people really understand the Filipino culture, but its spread to way more than that. It's begun to help out people in general," said Marra.
The Filipino Student Union found a great cause -- children in the Philippines.
"There are kids out in the street -- they're not at school. Probably like seven-year-olds, they're out on the streets selling whatever they can just to go by day-by-day, just having bowls of rice -- if that," said Marra.
To help those kids, Marra led the club in organizing a concert to raise money and awareness. The reaction she received was way above expectations.
"That was an amazing show, and when people thank you for that, and when the cause youv'e been trying to help is seen by more people, than that's a really good feeling," said Marra.
The good feelings and good work will not end with Marra's senior year at Fairfax High School.
"Whatever I can do to try and help people out, even if it's just one person, or in this case it's a lot of kids, than I feel it's my responsibility to try to just help them out in any way I can," said Marra.
