Caffeine linked to sun protection

In the current issue of Cancer Research, investigators found mice that were given the equivalent of three to five cups of coffee were less likely to develop skin cancer.

Somehow the caffeine helped the body eliminate skin cells damaged from the sun.

Scientists determined the same effect could be achieved by applying caffeine creams directly to the skin.

More research is needed so stick to moderate sun exposure and lots of sunscreen.
