Fire erupts in underground Metro tunnel

NORTH HOLLYWOOD The fire near the North Hollywood station broke out around 1:30 a.m. Officials said it got started when a 1-ton utility truck made contact with the high-voltage tracks and caught fire at Lankershim and Chandler Boulevards.

Firefighters said they were unable to make access to the fire for nearly an hour due to the tracks being charged with electricity.

Metro workers inspected the tracks and found there was no danger for trains during the morning commute.

No one was injured, and the charred truck was removed from the tracks by 4 a.m.
