Hollywood wiretapping trial nears end

LOS ANGELES The racketeering trial in Los Angeles has lasted eight weeks, with Pellicano representing himself.

He and four co-defendants face a total of 79 federal charges.

On Monday, a judge denied a motion for a mistrial for one of those defendants, former police sergeant Mark Arneson.

Arneson is accused of taking bribes to check names on police databases for Pellicano.

Instead, the judge said she will instruct the jury to disregard parts of Arneson's tesimony and that of one other witness.
