L.A. no longer has the worst air, but...

LOS ANGELES According to the American Lung Association's 2008 State of the Air report, Pittsburgh has taken the title from L.A. But our air quality is still far from acceptable.

Of the eight metropolitan areas considered to be the nation's most polluted, by every measure five are in California. They include L.A, Bakersfield, Fresno, Visalia and Hanford.

The cleanest cities on the list are Fargo, North Dakota and Salinas, California.
