NORTHRIDGE --
An apparent car race turns deadly in Northridge Saturday night.Witnesses say one of the two cars racing on the 19000 block of Roscoe went out of control and crashed at about 7:15 p.m. According to witnesses, a car veered across oncoming traffic, struck a utility pole and ended up on the sidewalk.
Firefighters had to extricate the driver, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The driver of the second car fled the scene.
