Dennis Farina released on bail

LOS ANGELES Farina was passing through a security checkpoint at LAX Sunday morning before boarding an 8 a.m. flight to Chicago. Screeners found a .22 semi-automatic pistol in his briefcase.

Farina says he forgot that the gun was in his luggage and was originally booked on a misdemeanor charge on $25,000 bail.

But when officials found out the gun was neither licensed nor registered to Farina, he was booked on a felony charge and bail was raised to $35,000.

Farina was held at Van Nuys jail until he posted bail Sunday night.

Farina is a popular television and movie actor, and has starred in "Law & Order" and "What Happens In Vegas," which opened this weekend.
