The search for human remains at the last hide out of charles manson has found virtually nothing, and has now been called off.Search teams worked in scorching temperatures for two days at the old Barker Ranch in Death Valley.

In the end, the search revealed little more than a .38-caliber shell casing and the underground nest of a pack rat.

A preliminary probe earlier this year suggested several spots that could be graves.

Manson's clan was ultimately prosecuted for nine murders that took place in the summer of 1969. He is serving a life sentence.
