First taco trucks cited under new law

May 25, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Authorities have cited the first mobile food truck to violate the new ordinance regulating mobile food sellers. The food trucks, like the one seen here, are found all over Los Angeles.

County supervisors passed the ordinance unanimously last month after restaurant owners complained that the trucks are unfair competition.

The measure makes it a misdemeanor to park in one location longer than one hour.

The fine is $1,000 dollars and six-months in jail if convicted. Some truck owners have vowed to defy the new law.
