But dermatologists say don't let that give you a false sense of security.
"I have yet to see any long-term studies on whether that works, but the idea that you can do one more thing in your daily life is key. The thing is, you have to make sure your patient understands this is just one part of the picture," said dermatologist Dr. Jodi Ganz.
The other part, dermatologists say, is protecting yourself from sunburn by staying in the shade during the hottest part of the day and applying a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
