Rialto shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

RIALTO A 26-year-old Rialto man was fatally shot while driving his car and his passenger, a 33-year-old Rialto man, was wounded near the Chevron gas station on the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Cedar Avenue at about 10:30 a.m.

Police are still trying to figure out what happened, but they believe someone pulled up to the Dodge Charger and opened fire. The driver lost control and crashed into a small cement fountain.

The driver was shot in the head. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The passenger was in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

There were numerous witnesses to the shooting, and the crash was caught on Chevron's surveillance cameras. The videotape shows a dark-colored SUV that may be involved in the incident.
