Teen football standout killed at a party

Jesus Florian was a wide receiver at Poly Tech High School and known as "Jesse" to his friends. But on Saturday, his teammates gathered, adding to a memorial of candles and flowers.As they struggled to comprehend his death, the search continues for his killer.

Florian was shot at about 12:20 a.m. at a party near Amboy Avenue and Neenach Street after an argument at a party in Sun Valley. He was declared dead at the scene.

At a candlelight vigil on Saturday night, friends and family mourned the loss of a 17-year-old known for his bright smile.

"He really liked football, and he was like a loveable person. He was a social butterfly," said Florian's cousin Stephanie Osario.

Florian was a football standout and looked forward to graduation and a future playing football in college. He was the oldest of three kids and the pride and joy of his parents.
