Food dye could fuel hyperactivity in kids

June 3, 2008 12:00:00 AM PDT
Food dye is used in so many products. It is used to make blueberry waffles bluer, and fruit juice more vibrant, just to name two.Now a consumer group wants to ban some food dyes. They claim those dyes are linked to hyperactivity.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest wants the FDA to ban eight specific food dyes.

They claim the dyes increase hyperactivity in children.

The FDA's looked at the issue before, and found no evidence to support that conclusion.

But CSPI experts say there's a newer British study that backs them up.
