San Pedro is a city known for its seaport, but it is defined by the working class people that who make a living and a life there.
Tuesday night, a couple hundred of them joined ABC7 for a town hall meeting to talk back to the television station, and to tell the station's management team about the stories that matter the most to them -- from community projects to air quality, from safety concerns to zoning issues. Topics were wide and varied, and each of them hit home with the community.
Not only did ABC7 listen to what was being said, so did City Councilwoman Janice Hahn.
"I think this type of evening is extremely important," said Hahn. "It's good for me to also hear what my constituents are saying so that I can help to solve some of their problems as well."
Because if you want to solve problems, first you have to listen.
If you want ABC7 Listens to come to your community, please e-mail the station at meeting@myabc7.com.
