O.C. wheelchair thieves caught on tape

TUSTIN Ebony Stennett is a single mother of two, and she was just trying to run some errands Thursday when she was victimized.

Surveillance video shows Stennett switching from her chair to a scooter at a Wal-Mart in Santa Ana. Two teens grab her chair, and one of them rides it outside where somebody is waiting. They all put the wheelchair in a brown pickup and take off.

"It hurts, they didn't take my chair, they took my legs. Just return it. I understand you wanted to have fun, but you did it at someone else's expense," Stennett said.

Stennett has been disabled since a car accident last year.

A donor has offered her a new wheelchair until police recover her custom one.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Santa Ana Police Department at (714) 245-8400.
