Australia overtakes U.S. as obese nation

MELBOURNE, Australia A new study by cardiovascular researchers says five million Australian adults are overweight, and it says four million adults are obese -- that's about 26 percent of the population.

Researchers say the excess weight will contribute to 700,000 extra strokes and heart attacks in the future. That could lead to 125,000 deaths and billions in extra health care costs.
