New vaccine reduces shots for kids

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new vaccine that may make getting immunized easier on children.It's the Pentacel Combination vaccine made by Sanofi Pasteur.

The company says Pentacel can reduce the number of shots needed for vaccination by one-third, from 23 shots to 16 shots.

It's given as a four-dose series, starting at two months and finishing at 18 months, and it protects against diphtheria, polio, Tetanus, whooping cough and influenza type B.
