Economy pushing people to live in cars

Along with the foreclosure crisis and the tumultuous economy, many California cities report seeing an increase in the number of people living in their cars.In Los Angeles and many other communities, it is illegal to live in vehicles on public streets.

City leaders say complaints from homeowners concerned about blight are growing.

Meanwhile, those forced to live on four wheels say they need a safe place to sleep and hope Los Angeles will follow Santa Barbara in opening up church and city parking lots overnight.
