Coumadin concerns during pregnancy

New guidelines for pregnant women and those who are trying to get pregnant. Refrain from taking certain blood thinners.The American College of Chest Physicians warns blood thinners, which include drugs like Coumadin, increase the risk of birth defects and miscarriage.

The guidelines also extend to air travelers who are at high risk of getting blood clots.

When flying, experts recommend compression stockings below the knee and receiving a single dose of heparin before flying.
